Khushab is a historical city of Pakistan. It is located 50 kilometers west from Sargodha on Sargodha Mianwali road. It was given status of district on 1st of July1982. There are many attractice places in this district, the most important and beautiful place being Valley of SoonSakesar

Khushab has three tehsils namely Khushab, noor pur and quaid abad. Khushab is named so owing to its sweet water. History of khushab dates back to famous emperor Sher Shah Suri who visited this place and tasted its water and he was surprised to notice the sweet taste of its water. Then he named this land Khushab which is a Persian word meaning sweet water. There are many beautiful cultural and social aspects of Khushab. The main language is Punjabi with a touch of Saraiki in it. This is because of close boundaries with the Saraiki speaking districs like Mianwali and Jhang. There are four districts which encircle this district naming Jhang, Chakwal, Mianwali and Sargodha. Administratively it comes under Sargodha division which has four districts in its administrative custody. These four districts are Khushab, Mianwali, Bhakkar and Layyah.
There is another small town Joharabad which is located 7 kilometers to the west of Khushab while going on Mianwali Khushab road. It is the main administrative area with judiciary, schools and administration offices in it.
There is a hilly area Soon valley, which is a beautiful land with good weather and may be the future interest for tourists. It is located to the south of Khushab on Sakesar road some 20 kilometers from Khushab. It contains many lakes, green fields and rocks. The largest town of this valley is Naushera which is planned to be given status of a Tehsil in future. Other small towns and villages to mention are Khabeki, Jhalar, Kufri, Jaba, Ochhali, Ochhala, Surraki and Anga.
Many Siberian birds settle in these lakes in winter season when ice covers most of Siberia. These birds enhance the beauty of this valley. They live here, breed here and migrate back to their native country when the conditions are favorable to them. In this way they can be called guest birds because they take shelter and then travel back.
People of Khushab are very social and brave. Literacy rate of Khushab had not been so high until recent past when educational reforms have been introduced by the federal government and the government of Punjab in the tenure of Chief Minister Pervez Elahi who provided free of cost education to every child till matriculation.
There are many worth mentioning personalities belonging to Khushab, Wasif Ali Wasif, Sohail Waraich, Muhammad Ali Sanwal, Badar Muneer to name few.

Agricultutre is the main source of income here with most of the population living in rural areas. Many grains are cultivated here. Wheat, grams, sugarcane, maize and fodder are the most commonly cultivated fields.
Rural areas of Khushab depict all the cultural aspects of traditional Punjabi culture. People wear shalwar qameez most of the times but some young boy also wear trousers and shirts as well.
Khushab has two seats in the national assembly of Pakistan and four seats in Punjab provincial assembly. In present government all these seats are occupied the most famous political party Muslim League.
