KHUSHAB CITY'S FAMOUS SWEET DHODA
HISTORY OF KHUSHAB AND DHODA:
Khushab city is located in Sargodha Division of Punjab. Among the worth mentioning things is a specific sweet made by the wheat floor. The sweet is named Dhoda. It was first made in 1902 by a well known wrestler of that time Hansraj. There are many shops of Dhoda in Khushab and they are located on main road. All of them claim to be pioneers in making this sweet product but Ameen Dhoda is considered to be the oldest shop in this regard. Again there are many shops with this name and the ancestors of Ameen Dhoda have made a writ petition to the High court of Punjab to claim their right. They say that some people are defaming them by making low quality sweet which is destroying the name of Khushab as this product is famous not only in different regions of Pakistan but also in foreign countries like United Kingdom and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. People take gifts for their relatives and dear ones. Some people demand their friends to bring the product.

HOW TO PREPARE DHODA:
This sweet is made from wheat by putting it water and then preparing the sweet from this soaked wheat. They use pure ghee in it. This ghee is called desi ghee and is obtained from pure animal source usually cows’ butter. Some adulterators use ordinary ghee instead of pure one for making money. They deceive innocent people from outside and take maximum charges per kilogram. But the inhabitants recognize them most of them times and don’t buy their substandard product.
TYPES OF DHODA:
There are two types of Dhoda, the usual and the special one. Usual Dhoda is prepared in usual manner but in special Dhoda there is addition of some dry fruits like almonds, walnuts and peanuts. Some extra charges are taken for these toppings.
PRICE OF DHODA:
There is one thing common in all shops of Dhoda and that is the price. It varies from time to time but at this time when I am writing this article, the price of Dhoda per kilograms is Rs. 360 for usual Dhoda and Rs. 400 for special Dhoda.
BEST TIME TO EAT DHODA:
Another worth mentioning aspect of Dhoda is the time of eating. If it is eaten soon after its preparation when it is quite hot, the taste is very delicious. Some people eat it inside the Dhoda shop for this reason. But it does not mean that that cannot be eaten after it is cold. It can be stored in refrigerator for quite some time. Eating Dhoda with tea is a delicious option.
SUGGESTION FOR ALL:
So I would suggest this sweet for all those who visit Khushab for any reason or those who have one of their friends living in Khushab district.
Now this sweet is considered a hallmark of Khushab. Let us see in this video how Dhoda is prepared mentioning all aspects of its preparation and some important things to keep in mind before you try this out at home.
