An Illiterate boy from Africa produced electricity
This is the story of a poor African boy who belongs to Malawi
which is a famine hit area of Africa. There was the worst famine of Malawian history
in 2001 when many people where starved to death. There were reports that this
might be the worst famine of human history.
This boy has a family comprising of seven all of them were
sisters. His father is an ordinary farmer. During the days of famine, they were
allowed only one meal at night and that meal was not enough to sustain life. They
were starving day by day. He was in a secondary school at that time and was
forced to leave school because there was no money to pay the fee.
He was a very talented and brave as he did not bother about the
disastrous situation. He went to different libraries to learn and read. He did
not know English language very well.
One day when he was reading a book of physics, he saw that
it was written in the book that electricity can be produced with the help of a
windmill. An idea struck his mind and he went to home immediately.
He thought of making a windmill for his family as this meant
a lot for him. But the problem was where to bring the equipment for the
preparation of windmill. He gathered some old used material which included a
tractor fan, bicycle frame and dynamo. He assembled all these things over a
wooden frame and made a windmill which produced electricity. Initially it lit
only one light but after some alteration it could lit four lights. It was also
able to produce water. All of sudden people started gathering around his house
and media also came. He was a famous man capable to support his family.
